They can be a real pain, ruining our evenings outdoors during the warmer months or giving us sleepless nights: mosquitoes are very annoying. To eliminate them, we often use industrial repellents, loaded with chemicals that are certainly not good for our health.
In this article, we explain how to keep mosquitoes away with a simple natural ingredient: vinegar. It’s widely used in cooking, but also in natural medicine thanks to its antibacterial properties. Vinegar’s intense, penetrating aroma is unpleasant to mosquitoes and acts as a natural repellent.
By placing a glass filled with white wine vinegar on a surface, such as a bedside table, you can keep mosquitoes away for several hours. The aroma released by the vinegar has a repellent effect on small insects.
To enhance the repellent properties of vinegar, try mixing it with lemongrass, which is one of the most effective natural insect repellents. Pour a few drops of lemongrass essential oil into a glass filled with vinegar.
Another natural repellent you can combine with vinegar is eucalyptus oil. Again, add 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil to a glass or cup filled with vinegar and place it on your table or bedside table to repel mosquitoes.
