Want to grow an aloe vera plant but don’t know where to start? Here’s everything you need to know.
Aloe vera is a succulent plant, like cacti. There are many varieties, but the most common is medicinal aloe vera, which grows up to 100 cm tall. You can grow it both as an ornamental plant , thanks to its beauty, and use it to obtain the gel from its fleshy leaves (excellent for various natural remedies).
In addition, aloe vera is also capable of purifying the air in the environments in which it grows, it is a truly useful plant!
To care for it and grow it well you need very little, in fact, just ignoring it will give its best.
- The two things you always need to check are: irrigation and sunlight.
- The most common mistake made when growing aloe is overwatering. Too much water will cause the plant to rot, so be sure to water it only when the top layer of soil is completely dry.
- To grow at its best, place it in a bright area , it will do well even in low light.
- The perfect soil for this plant is composed of universal soil , pebbles, and gardening sand, this way water stagnation will not form.
- Like most succulents, aloe does not need any type of compost or fertilizer , but you can use a natural one during the main growth period, i.e. spring.
- As for propagation , the plant also provides for itself in this case. Grow it in a large pot; you’ll see many new shoots sprouting from the roots completely independently.
